Urdu Alphabet for Kids: Chart and Tracing Pages
All 39 Urdu letters with a word for each, and four pages to trace them.
Updated 25 October 2026
A free Urdu alphabet (haroof-e-tahajji) for children. The first page is a colourful chart of all 39 letters, from alif to bari ye, each with its name, a simple Urdu word that uses it and the word's meaning in English: anar, badal, patang, tara and so on. The next four pages give every letter its own row to trace from right to left, with the example word beside it.
Letters that never start a word, such as ṛay, noon ghunna, do-chashmi hay, hamza and bari ye, are shown inside a word so children see where they really appear. Some books count 37 or 38 letters; this chart follows the common 39-letter list.
