About this programme

A science that very few in the world can teach

The Qur'an was revealed with multiple valid styles of recitation — each one authentic, each one traced back to the Prophet ﷺ through a verified chain of narration. The science of Qira'at is the study of these multiple styles.

This is not a beginner course. It is an advanced, specialised discipline that requires students to have already mastered Tajweed. Very few scholars anywhere in the world are qualified to teach Qira'at — Mufti Ataul Rehman is one of them.

For serious students of Qur'anic sciences, the Qira'at Programme represents one of the highest levels of Islamic scholarship available. It is a rare opportunity to study a discipline that most people never even know exists.

Questions

Frequently asked

What are the Qira'at? +
The Qira'at are the multiple valid styles of reciting the Qur'an — each one authentic and traced back to the Prophet ﷺ through a verified chain of narration. The most commonly used today is Riwayat Hafs from Aasim, but there are seven major Qira'at each with their own characteristics and rules.
What level do I need before joining? +
You must have completed a formal Tajweed programme and be able to recite the full Qur'an with correct Tajweed. Ideally, students should have completed the Advanced Tajweed programme or hold an equivalent qualification. Contact us if you are unsure about your level.
How many classes per week? +
5 classes per week, each 45 minutes long, held live on Zoom.
Why is this programme described as rare? +
The science of Qira'at is a highly specialised discipline that requires the teacher to themselves hold qualifications in multiple recitation styles. Very few scholars worldwide have this level of qualification — making the opportunity to study it directly with a qualified teacher genuinely rare.
